On Sunday July 28th, the students sat their diploma examinations. This year we had four students from Transition year and sixth year. They satisfied the requirements for the diplomas and were awarded their certificates as well as post nominal initials.
James Hyland completed an Associate Diploma in Musical Theatre Singing. He wowed the adjudication panel with his musical phrasing and imagination. He is entitled to use AVCM(Hons) after his name. A special thank you to his teachers Mrs. Caroline Kelly and Mrs. Kirsty Ryan for helping him to prepare for this. Well done to both student and teachers.
Dan O’Brien bravely sat two diploma exams on the same day. This was by no means easy but Dan is always up for a challenge. He succeeded in both. He was awarded an Associate Diploma in Musical Theatre Singing and Licentiate in piano duet playing. Dan wowed the adjudication panel with his flawless technique and his wonderful ability to capture the genre in every piece. He is entitled to use the letter AVCM(Hons) and LVCM(Hons) after his name. A special thank you to his teachers Mrs. Kirsty Ryan his singing teacher and Mr. William Cullagh his piano teacher, for their guidance and expertise. Well done to student and teacher.
Macdara Fitzpatrick also sat two diplomas in the same day. Macdara took an Associate Diploma in Piano teaching and a Licentiate in Musical Theatre Singing. Macdara is now a qualified piano teacher with the qualifications to teach piano to students from beginner level up to grade 5. He impressed the adjudication panel with his ideas around the areas of piano teaching and his comedic performance and character portrayal in his musical theatre examination. Well done to his teachers Mrs. Kirsty Ryan his singing teacher and and Mr. William Cullagh his piano teacher, for their guidance in preparation.
David Purcell has now been awarded the highest diploma offered by the college. He was awarded a Fellowship in Musical Theatre Singing. This is after he has already sat the Associate in transition year, the Licentiate in fifth year and now he has completed the cycle before heading to university. The adjudication panel were so impressed with David’s control of medium, his difference in style and his character portrayal they awarded him this diploma. A very well done to his teachers Mrs. Caroline Kelly and Mrs. Kirsty Ryan for their guidance and dedication.
